Clean Yield Asset Management has long recognized the power of capital to move society toward a just and sustainable future. For more than 40 years, we have operated as an industry leader, working to meet the financial goals of individuals and families while making a positive social and environmental impact.

With a growing number of clients coming to Clean Yield for expert guidance, we are proud to announce that we are expanding, adding vital new members to our leadership: Kofi Kodua and Liz Levy. Both bring deep industry knowledge and fresh perspectives to support our work. This exciting growth reflects Clean Yield’s steadfast commitment to remain at the forefront of sustainable investing, build a more diverse team, and strengthen our capacity to serve both new and existing clients.

Clean Yield partners and portfolio managers Eric Becker, Elizabeth Glenshaw, and Dorigen Hofmann recognize how important it is that the approach to sustainable investing evolve as the firm grows.

“The challenges facing social investors are ever-changing,” says Glenshaw. “Liz and Kofi bring a breadth of experience that will help us strengthen our investment process and maximize our impact.”

Enhancing the Diversity and Experience of Our Team

New leadership team members Kofi and Liz are Clean Yield’s directors of investment research and serve as portfolio managers. In addition to working directly with clients, they work with the investment committee to set the firm’s big-picture investment strategy. Their responsibilities include managing equity strategy models, analyzing individual stocks, and overseeing social and environmental screening processes, proxy voting, and shareholder advocacy.

“Adding Liz and Kofi to the Clean Yield team both bolsters our investment research team and builds our portfolio management capacity to accommodate our growing client base,” says Eric. “They each bring deep experience conducting both thematic and stock-specific research that integrates environmental and social factors.”

Before joining the team at Clean Yield, Kofi spent 12 years at Allianz Global Investors, where he was a director and founding member of the firm’s Sustainable Thematic Investment Platform. Liz held several roles at Trillium Asset Management over the past 12 years, most recently as head of ESG strategy and lead portfolio manager for the firm’s flagship equity strategy.

Meet Our New Team Members

In this Q&A, we asked Kofi and Liz to share what brought them to Clean Yield, what excites them about joining our team, and their biggest hopes for the future of impact investing.

Kofi and Liz join a team devoted to a client-focused and collaborative investment approach. Their extensive understanding of the ESG industry augments Clean Yield’s knowledge base and experience in crafting portfolios that meet clients’ deeply held values while adhering to a rigorous investment discipline.

“In making these hires, we knew it was critical to bring on people who value the kind of highly personal and authentic client relationships that Clean Yield has always cultivated,” says Dorigen. “We feel fortunate to have found Liz and Kofi, who fully embrace that approach.”

Looking to the Future at Clean Yield

With the onboarding of Kofi, Liz, and others — we also recently expanded our staff to support our impact investing program — the firm has established a robust team poised for the next generation of values-based investing at Clean Yield. Bringing on Kofi and Liz reflects Clean Yield’s commitment to remaining an independent investment management firm.

“While many of our social investing competitors have taken the path of being acquired by larger firms, we are laying the groundwork for an independent future for Clean Yield,” says Elizabeth. “Liz and Kofi will be part of the leadership team that shapes that future.”

Clean Yield is committed to advancing a shared vision for a sustainable future in this complex, uncertain time. While massive shifts are ultimately needed to address the crises created by climate change and social inequities, using our power as investors is a critical avenue to drive change. Our team expansion reinforces Clean Yield’s dedication to this work while keeping our mission front and center — now and into the future.

“Values and mission alignment was paramount in filling these roles and we are thrilled to have found two people in Liz and Kofi that are so clearly aligned,” says Eric. “We are so excited for what’s to come.”
