Clean Yield Asset Management is hiring for the position of Director of Social Research & Shareholder Advocacy. We’re looking for a seasoned, forward-thinking, independent individual who can build on our deep roots in socially responsible investing, conduct rigorous ESG (environmental, social and governance) research on corporations, engage in shareholder advocacy, and deliver thought leadership. Other important elements of this role include fostering Clean Yield’s presence in the Vermont progressive business community and helping the company continue to improve our own practices. This person will work with the investment committee and the firm’s partners to communicate our perspective to clients, the SRI community, and broader audiences. This person will be a key team member and a leading voice of the company. We prefer that the position be staffed from our Norwich, Vermont office.
Said our outgoing director of social research Shelley Alpern, “Take my job, please! But seriously folks, this position offers a great opportunity to advance positive change in the corporate world. Especially in the anti-regulatory era we’re in, it’s more important than ever for concerned shareholders to communicate clearly to corporations that responsible practices are still smart, and still expected.” Shelley has accepted a position at Ceres, a nonprofit organization we have partnered with many times to promote corporate sustainability practices.
